I made the switch to veganism for the animals and the plant almost 1 year ago today (august is my veganiversary!) unfortunately it didn't do wonders for my health at first. I used to be a low carb meat eating person (yuck! I always felt terrible and hungry and ate dead animals. Why?????) so when I first switched I was trying to do low carb vegan which not only eliminates the BEST vegan foods (fruits, cooked starches) but adds the worst (oil rich spreads, mock meats with a pathetic amount of oiled up veggies.) I felt like crap and while I lost about 30 pounds, it was because I was eating around 1400 calories a day (not to mention eliminating animals and animal secretions from diet is a good first step towards health for anyone.)
I was consistently tired and was terrified that all the stereotypes about being a weak undernourished vegan were true (luckily I never wanted to hurt animals again so I wasn't willing to accept that there was some magical chemical in meat that our bodies needed and found Raw Til 4 a few months ago).
Not one to waste food I finished eating through my vegan junk about two weeks ago and have since fully committed to a raw til 4 lifestyle. My energy is through the roof and I no longer drink coffee to make it through the day. I anticipate a long recovery period before weight loss because of the level of caloric restriction I put myself through all these years (while still being fat as can be because of inevitable binges!) not to mention the intermittent fasting experiment which left me sleeping 12 hours a day just to not feel like I was starving. Needless to say I'm NEVER going back - unlimited bananas and french fries? Sold.
Decided to make an account because reading more in depth about the minnesota starvation experiment made me want to stay accountable and join a community to remind me to carb up and hit my minimum 2100 cal a day. I still struggle to eat this much because my stomach capacity seems to have been super small all these years despite the binging. Hoping to get to easy 10 banana breakfast smoothies soon (up to 6 now with lots of dates!)

My favourite books/movies/authors/pastimes are...
I draw cartoons for a living so all my favorite movies are animated - Studio Ghibli films like Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away are excellent. Coraline, Lilo & Stitch and the Jungle Book are some of my favorites as well.
I love to learn creative hobbies, lately I've been taking up cross stitch with the help of a friend and would love to learn how to make jewelry (I own a pair of earrings that is a miniature avocado - one half with a pit one half without, how cute is that? Now I just need banana ones!)
I like to read a lot about history and nonfiction on the internet and really need to start getting into the habit of reading more books!

The Frugivore started this site to bring together frugivores across the Globe! Let us know what high fruit assistance do you need?
Hmmm... so far following a high fruit meal plan has been pretty straightforward, I suppose I am hoping to see similar stories like mine, girls starting out as overweight as me who gained health and lost weight on rt4 to encourage me to keep on eating tons and tons of great food. Sometimes my "I'm full" at the end of the day comes up short by 200cal and I have to cram in a piece or two of whole wheat toast to make sure I'm not underfeeding myself.
Would love to read more into science behind starvation and metabolic damage as being armed with knowledge makes me confident and even more committed.
