I grew up in MN and pretty much grew up on hamburgers and pasta - I literally didn't eat a vegetable until I went vegan in 2010. I was very lucky to be very thin my entire life (I believe this was mainly due to undiagnosed celiac disease) and never had to diet or worry about my weight, I could eat as much and anything I wanted and I was thin as a rail. I went vegan in 2010 for ethical reasons. I was definitely a junk food vegan and I was eating even more wheat than ever (seitan for every meal - I actually liked it better than any other food I had ever eaten)! Even though I was vegan I was tired all the time and sick and getting sicker. Finally in early 2013 I was diagnosed with celiac disease. This really devestated me for awhile because of my love for seitan! I was at a loss for what to eat being a gluten free vegan (although I never even considered giving up veganism - I am hard core animal rights). Right around that same time I came upon "fruitarianism" while googling "gluten free vegan." I was intrigued and started reading everything I could find on it - including 80/10/10 and Go Fruit Yourself. I quickly came to believe that HCLF is my ideal diet. I tried to go HCRV but I failed in the first day (I think it was under calories). I went back to eating fruits and veggies during the day and cooked food at night - but NOT raw till 4 (I hadn't heard of that anyway) my cooked meals were not low fat or good healthy choices. Since cutting out gluten and healing from years of undiagnosed celiac I have been gaining weight. I feel better than ever but still not the best I think I could feel. I decided to give HCRV a real shot again - it's been 2 days so far so good! I believe that this lifestyle can help me feel better (energy being the big thing) and go back to my ideal weight. I want to join this community because I have a lot of questions and could definitely use some support.
