After two decades of weight loss ups and downs, and 4 years flirting with raw, I found Dr. Grahams site. since discovering raw through Alissa Cohen, I have known that it is the way I want to eat. In 2001, I rached my goal weigth through calorie restriction and huge amounts of exercise. Over the next several years I gained all that weigh back plus more. I need to lose over 100lbs, and calorie restriction combined with excercise no longer works at all. My husband, ewhite not overweight, is an insulin dependant type 1 diabetic. I have tracked my food on fitday for years, and for the last 5 days, i have been trying to do 80/10/10 strictly.

I am hoping the accountability of a group committed to this lifestyle will help me stay on track. I am motivated by challenge and I know I can be a regular contributor to the forum. I need to transation my 4 teens into this lifestyle as well.

I tried to transition at once, but felt weak both physically and mentally to keep up with it. I fell of the wagon, but am climbing back on. I am just taking things one thing at a time. First I did breakfast raw, then gave up coffee, then raw lunch. Now I am giving up all processed foods and medications. Dinners are mostly vegan with some cooked things like baked potatoes. I was already not eating grains and milk partly due to allergies and partly because the Atkins diet I did restricted them anyway.
I am doing this transition partly for myself, but also not to shell shock my family too much. They thought I was nuts at first. But now my kids 13 and 12, call it my monkey diet, and sometimes they even will have a banana only breakfast and they like it. My husband is still skeptical.
I still cook their SAD food for them, but trying to increase their fruits n veggies. I know I need to learn this way of life, practice it, and when they see results, they might follow. Peace PK
