Hi! My name is Kaitlin (Kat for short). I am 18 years old, and ever since I was a little girl I have struggled with my weight. I lost 20 pounds when I was 15 by counting calories (1000-1500 / day) and exercising. When I was 16, I developed anorexia and bulima, and by 17 I was 145 pounds, the lowest I have ever been (I am 5'11). I was the captain of my swim team, but was constantly on the verge of passing out at practices, and I threw up every thing I had in me before practice and meets. In March of 2013, I was admitted to a psychiatric ward for suicide attempts (I overdosed when I was 17), self-harm, and an eating disorder. When I was released, I was much more mentally stable. And after having all of my meals controlled at the hospital, and after already controlling them myself for the past couple years, I was ready to EAT. I ate anything I wanted (I should probably mention that I have been a vegetarian since I was 15, and still am!). Cakes, cookies, fast food, pasta... everything. When I was up to 180lbs I tried to calorie restrict, but failed over and over. At 200lbs, I tried again. I even tried juicing. This didn't work because they took FOREVER to make, and I was constantly hungry. Now I am 230lbs (the largest I have ever been in my life) and I do not know what to do. The last week or so I have been trying to count calories and keep them below 1500. But at the end of the day, after working out, being at work and running out of calories that I'm "allowed" to eat, I am in physical pain over hunger. And that leads to a binge, which starts the cycle again. I started following Freelee a couple of months ago on instagram, but I really had no idea what she was about and why she ate so many freaking bananas. I thought she was pretty bananas herself... Anyway, the other day at work (I work at a local grocery store) a woman was checking out and she had a ton of bananas and kale and veggies. I asked her if she juiced / made smoothies, and we started talking about jucing and being vegheads and what not. Then she said she was currently doing "raw til 4" and told me to look up you, Freelee the banana girl! I told her I knew of you but not many details. She told me about how AMAZING she is feeling. She said that she simply feels better as a whole person, that every aspect of her life just feels clearer and simply BETTER.That all around she just feels GOOD. So then I looked you up and watched a ton of your youtube videos. Let me just say that I have never been more blown away by someone's lifestyle. I never would've thought that this is how you eat. I am SO excited to start this lifestyle. I have struggled with many of the things you have: anorexia, bulima, drug addiction, depression, anxiety, etc. Although I no longer struggle with those things, the aftermath is still with me. I want to have a clear mind, good skin, and a healthy body. I truly believe this is the way to do it. I am majoring in dietetics, and everything you have said about the cells in our bodies and the way they depend on glucose, the way carbs interact with water, it all just clicked. I felt completely idiotic for not realizing this myself, being someone who actually has an education that involves food, chemistry, biology, and micro-organisms. You have truly inspired me, and I cannot wait to jump on this train. I am willing to be patient. I have really been focused on my weight, but this is so much more than just weight loss. This is overall well being. Thank you so much Freelee!

The Frugivore started this site to bring together frugivores across the Globe! Let us know what high fruit assistance do you need?
I am concerned about where to get all of the bananas! I know I'm going to need a lot, I just don't know where to buy them in crates like you do. Also, what are some other fruit options that are high carb?
The Frugivore Diet is a fruit-based vegan internet community which promotes a high carb fruit based vegan lifestyle free of any animal products. Welcome to 30BaD! :)
You can buy cases of any fruit from your grocery store or better yet find your local wholesaler on line or in the yellow pages. It takes about 3 days for the yellow bananas to ripen with spots, so you'll need to buy every three days approximately. Some fruits do not ripen after picking so it's best to taste them in the store before buying and make sure they are super duper sweet with no hint of sourness. All the best! :)
