I've been a vegan for 3 years for ethical reasons, but in the past year I've also shifted my focus towards health as well. Before, my vegan diet was full of Oreo's, potato chips, soy cheese, bread, and very few whole fruits and vegetables. This past year I've tried several types of diets: high protein/low carb, juice fasts, high fat, etc. While I have gotten better at eating more fresh fruits and vegetables, these diets have not gotten me the results I've wanted, not in the area of health, energy, weight loss or fitness. I've only very recently discovered the 80/10/10 book, and I'm stunned by the simple common sense contained in it. This type of diet makes so much sense, and I'm really hoping that this is finally IT, since I've tried so many diets before (many of which are contradictory). I'm just tired of switching diets a million times after learning that the one I was doing before was wrong and this new one is right (i.e. high fat is bad, then low fat is bad, and now I'm hearing that high fat is bad AGAIN). This high carb, low fat raw diet goes against several of the nutrition principles I've been taught (fruit is too sugary, there is nothing to fear from high amounts of fat as long as it's plant based, some vegetables are more nutritious cooked, etc.). But, I haven't gotten the results I've been looking for, so clearly there is something wrong here. I'm here to try out this 80/10/10 diet to see if it works. I figured I should at least try it before I dismiss it.

My favourite books/movies/authors/pastimes are...
I like to read nonfiction books about health and wellness, as well as browse through cookbooks for ideas. I also love reading about travel and my aim in life is to travel to as many places as possible. Ballet is my main source of fitness inspiration and passion, and improving my endurance and overall performance is one of the reasons I'm exploring the HCRV lifestyle.
The Frugivore started this site to bring together frugivores across the Globe! Let us know what high fruit assistance do you need?
The only assistance I need is that I'm not a huge fan of fruit. In fact, I'd much prefer a high vegetable diet over a high fruit diet. The texture of most fruit I just can't stand, such as strawberries (the seeds), oranges (the white stringy matter), apples (just makes me gag), etc. I like bananas, mangoes, grapes, cherries, and that's about it. I can handle pureed fruit so I'll be having a lot of fruit smoothies I suppose. Also, giving up cooked foods is certainly going to be an issue. How can I give up my precious curries, hummus, baked sweet potatoes, veggie stir fries, and veggie burgers? And again, I'd be more okay with the diet if it allowed for more vegetables than fruit rather than the other way around. But I'll try to cope. Conditions I'm seeking to cure through diet, exercise and other lifestyle changes are: fatigue, skin and hair issues, excess weight, hormonal imbalance (irregular and painful menstruation), and junk food cravings/dependency.
