I go to shambhala, not burning man, but it has always been my dream to go to burning man :( Anyway, it will be great to get pointers on food packing and stuff from this group, as shambhala is 1 week as well. :)
Someone told me that fruit doesn't ripen at burning man because it's so hot. True? That'd be pretty handy, if you timed it all right... as it is, not sure my fruit would last all week.
Would love some tips!
holy bananas i am getting excited.
it'd be cool to have an identifier to show that you're a 30badder.
i'm going to craft together a banana flag, if you see a girl with a banana flag (most likely on her tandem bicycle) say hello :)
bought tickets, it's definitely on (: 'burning' with anticipation now
those that have been before - how do you pack enough fruit and prevent it from spoiling for a week?! i'll be also travelling with a non-vegan so have to account for that as well.
and a major one is water of course
so what are the recommendations?
planning on going to BM this year! how is everyone getting there? it would be super ideal to find a crew to go with, who understands the importance of mucho mucho fruitas.
hailing from vancouver bc, no wheels yet although have been discussing renting/borrowing a campervan and splitting the cost with whoever is interested.
I just got back from Playa Del Fuego and had a blast! I'm going to BM this year too! Haha I went grocery shopping the day of the trip so I had plenty of bananas, mangos, dates and pears to last me the four days camping. I was lucky we went home before it ended because I was on my last mango!
It was great because I didn't have to cook anything or create a ton of moop (material out of place aka litter).
Who else is going? I'm going to be camping with Disorient!
Ah! That's what I was looking for.
Thank you Terra!
Sounds like a wild ride. I'm going to consider attending.
Tarah it's a MASSIVE extremely-creative get-together. People come from all around the world and set up shop for 7 days and just have fun! It's like a Halloween picnic in the desert haha
You camp there for 7 days. People old and young go, stoned and sober, drunk or high, fit and fat :)
No schedule besides when certain music is goona play and when certain things r guna burn I think ...
the purpose is to come together and love each other as creatively as you can. check out the vids on youtube...they are ASTOUNDING
All of those things you posted sound wonderful, but I still don't get it! Is it a festival? Are there performers? What do you do there? Do you camp out? What type of people go? Is there a schedule?
What is the purpose?
On the fruit festival website there is a clear outline...fitness, fun, sun, all you can eat fruit, lectures, tubing...etc. I guess I was looking for a similar type of outline.
