Calming the Frizzies?

Hey curly-haired friends!  I was wondering what you use on your hair to keep it from being so frizzy.  My hair is dry and I live in a rainy area, so it easily frizzes.  If I don't use anything on my hair, my curls tend to separate and frizz all over the place.  Right now I use just a bit of natural conditioner and some hair oil.  But its not working too well!

Any suggestions?

  • Does anyone straighten their hair?

And does anyone use Aloe Vera for hair gel? Or maybe a combination of Aloe Vera, Coconut oil and shea butter?

    • Hi Rachel,

I straighten my hair pretty often. I occasionally use coconut oil but found that if left on there for awhile, it begins to smell funny. . .  so I really only use it if I'm really needing something and have nothing else on hand.

More often, I use almond oil. I spread it through with my fingers and it really keeps the frizz at bay.

      Hope that helps!

  • Do you dry it straight or something? I find my hair becomes frizzy if it gets wet after being styled; but if I leave it dry naturally, it stays how it dried more or less. It's a little frizzy always though.

I find looking at other women's hair theirs always looks perfect unless I look carefully - then I see frizz. I think we have a problem looking too much at our own hair and it really emphasises any perceived flaws we might have.

  • @ Poodle Doodle Doo ... yes, topically and drinking. I have many ebooks/documents on the subject that I can send you if you are interested. If you will email me at 9pentacles@gmail.com I will send those to you. I started with the book, "The Water Of Life a treatise on urine therapy" By J.W. Armstrong. I got mine at amazon dot com used for $8. The first 10 pages were worth far more than that price. Unfortunately I have not been able to find his book in pdf. But the other books and documents that I have are still good and tell the information you are seeking. I have not heard of mixing it with anything. However when I first started I ate a tablespoon of Bulgarian Yogurt (the kind with living bacteria in it) after I drank just to get the taste out of my mouth until my taste buds and my mind adjusted to what I was doing LOL. I started with just applying topically for a few days before I started drinking. A lot of info says to use aged urine for skin but my skin responds best to fresh only. I do have a dark bottle with eyedropper with aged urine that I carry for wounds. It's good for 7 days. But for my skin fresh seems to work best. But everyone's body varies I think.

The amount to work up to is 1 cup. And yes midstream. And first pee of the morning or if you wake in the night after having slept 4 hours or more that can be the best time. Because after that you start having more sediment in the Urine and you may find that the taste is drastically different. For me... If I pee in the night and wait until morning then the morning's urine taste bad where as if I get the first pee after having slept then there is no taste. I'm a 24/7 caregiver so I often am up several times in the night where otherwise I'd be sleeping.

    Blessings ! Rayla

P.S..... anyone interested in this subject may email me and I'll send them the documents/books

  • I have done a few things to get my hair to look and feel like hair.

For one, I stopped using shampoo. And the other is I use Nutiva Coconut Oil on my hair.

Added to that is I started Sun Gazing and started Shivambu. Finally my hair and skin are soft.

  • thanks for the suggestions ladies!

  • I don't really like to put anything in my hair, as it tends to build up and i find it gets dirty faster. However, there are times when I want a more polished look. I have used a bit of coconut oil with some success. I have also soaked flax seeds in a sprouting bag and used the gel that it creates and have been pleased with the results. I keep this on hand, for when I don't have the time or inclination to make flax gel.

I have chemical sensitivities and find that I can tolerate this quite well.
