  • Is anyone still interested in this idea/group?

  • Wow. I'm so glad this group was started.  When I first got very serious about lfrv Doug Graham gave us the advice of starting a co-op where we were because the fruit supply was low and over-priced...I have been planning and thinking of ways to implement this idea since, even though I have moved. This project sounds exactly inline with the ideas I was planning.

Update on fruit bank

Hello all... I am currently in the Southeast U.S.  I've been thinking about this idea and came to the conclusion that the most important thing I can think to work on is educating people about the fruit economy and how to empower their communities by presenting the idea of growing, picking, sharing and eating fruit, a lot of it...especially for homeless and low-income people, schools, prisons, hospitals, etc. If fruit trees in a community are known, identified, recorded and people who are hungry…

Who Wants A Fruit Bank Where You Are?

My idea about how to educate people on this lifestyle is to have maybe a few mobile branches, and to make it a fruit school, similar to the free skool trend.  My goal is to get an RV/camper or something of the sort and go to areas where people need to hear this message, as well as see how it works, and I think it would also be great to host camping trips, especially near wild growing fruit and let people come out and see what it's like to eat a lot of fruit, and live a fruity lifestyle.

Where To Get Fruit?

If I'm not mistaken(and I don't think I am, since I've looked into it)... grocery stores will not donate food unless you're a registered non-profit, and for the most part they only donate to food banks. However, it might be possible to find gardeners, farmers, etc. to donate.  Also it could be a great idea to locate wild trees and trees in yards to get fruit from. In terms of getting free fruits&veggies, I think it is fine to accept any fruits and veggies...but in terms of a cost-share…

Ideas and Goals

Hi everyone, I talked with the creator of this group and I told her I'd like to take on this project since she is too busy to do so.  I had already been planning a project like this, due to the fact that my family is low-income, and when asked how to do lfrv with low-income Dr. Doug Graham advised us to start a co-op.  I have looked into that and found a great way of making this work.  For people to cost-share for produce and also to have an abundance of fruit/veg donated or gleaned for free,…
