My name is Gary. I have spent the last 10 years studying health and nutrition utilising the internet and many books. My interest in nutrition really kicked off when my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and I started my search to "save her". Little did I know how much ridicule it would lead to as I presented the Budwig protocol as a possible answer. Also, I didn't notice at first but my mother had already given up, as she knew her diagnosis was a death sentence. She had learned this from her friends and family, that had previously succumbed to this disease and didn't believe there was "another way".
Like many people here, I have tried all sorts of different diets to try and make myself "feel better" as I suffer from a distinct lack of enthusiasm. I have always been blessed with good health, friends, family etc but always lacked the will to do anything. As I look back at my life, I now realise that my lack of will to do anything was/is because I live in a funny old fabricated world where everything we do is mentally dictated to us from a very young age and that we rarely make a decision that hasn't already been decided for us by the powers that be. I believe most of us love the comfort of conformity, but inside we are desperate to be different and actually make a decision of our own.
I was brought to 30BAD by a desire to learn more about fruit consumption as I believe that farming is a nonsense invented by man for the purpose of control, and that the planet should be covered in freely available fruit trees. Fruit trees give us food most of the year round and roots (veges) would fill the void. I have "farmed" my own land for a few years now but suffer the same lack of enthusiasm for this as other areas of my life. I sometimes wondered if I was depressed or plain lazy but I have plenty of enthusiasm for the few things I enjoy, sport, talking and loving my amazing wife.
Like Harley, I refuse to "exercise" for the sake of it. I believe that un-enjoyable exercise is bad for me. I play sport that I enjoy.
I recently (oct 2013) got a high BP diagnosis and used fruit and salads only for 2 weeks and reduced it from 157/90 to 119/79. I continue to eat primarily this way.
