Australopithicus Africanses was the first primate to climb down from the trees, some 25 million years ago. His diet was simple: leaves and fruit. If s/he found a fruit tree, s/he might spend the day there, or at least eat until the fruit was gone. If he found a nice-tasting bush or tree, s/he might have eaten his/her fill.
What I plan to do is simply walk in to the Produce Department and buy a bunch of spinach, or chard, or Romaine, and eat it until it is gone; then go back for something different.
I don't like to cook anyway! This may be the answer to my dreams!

Hi Kate, Today is Day One. I weigh 200 lbs. I eat lots and lots at night, before bed. I've been eating the wrong things. I have diverticulitis, acid reflux, arthritis, obstructive sleep apnea, and probably heart disease. I'm 70 y/o. I need something drastic, right?
I live half a block from a grocery store and two blocks from an Indian market. I ate everything in my refrigerator last night! Maybe it's better that I have to walk 1/2 a block to get a snack, rather than just to the 'fridge. On the walk I can have time to think about whether I want ice cream or greens and fruit. (Actually, I can even binge on fruit).
My solution is to eat only greens and fruit, until I weigh 150 lbs. and reverse all my obesity-related, chronic, degenerative diseases. I have time to shop. I'm retired on social security. That's the problem. I've got lots of time and very little money, so eating is a good pastime, right?
Are you teasing me? Are you making fun of me? Do you think this is a good idea?
Actually, I've tried dates and I eat them like candy! Don't they have lots of Calories? Do they have vitamins, minerals and Omega-3's? How long have you been eating dates?
Great idea Mack, if you have time to shop this way.
Just bear in mind what they say about going into a foodstore hungry...
I always have a small container of dates with me, to prevent veering off track :)
