A group for discussing, explaining and promoting vegan pet food.

For a vegan world it is absolutely imperative to transition our companion animals to a cruelty free diet.

Why should a cow grow up suffering and dying miserably for the sake of a companion animal?
Why should the oceans be trawled and killed for fluffy?
There can be no justification for this behavior, the consequences are real and the suffering is real.

If you scroll to the bottom of this page, or click the below links, you will find dedicated pages to non cats and dogs, such as pigs, parrots, rats, sheep and so on. This is an on going community project that anyone could contribute too. Enjoy.

  • Do you think there is a way to get an image to a specific place you want it? On my ferrets section the picture insists on being at the top instead of at the ferret section where it belongs.

  • Updated information on ferrets.

  • Looks like the assholes n Vegan Cats deleted y Ferret Information that I linked too. :) How idiotic.

  • Hi, I want to learn how to feed my pets vegan. Hopefully cheaply. I made a thread here:

I find it most interesting the claim that taurine is added to commercial cat food. Any evidence to back up that claim?

  • ok that's terrific, peter!

  • Thank you so much for this great information.  I'll read it all.  Gratefully, Trish

  • hi patricia! i have no experience with dogs and cancer largely because our dogs have been veg since year one. the vegan dog survey shows an inverse correlation with likelihood of getting certain diseases and length of time the dog was vegan.

in situations where a problem has developed for humans or animals, i'm an advocate of fasting. you can see shelton's work here. fasting permits the body to use available energy to make repairs where required.

if you may want to talk to ednshell since she has experience with fasting her rawfood veg dog.

  • Hi,

I posted this a few weeks ago, but haven't seen a response.  Please tell me what to feed my beautiful vegan Great Dane.  Somehow, she came down with osteosarcoma cancer.  Also, if anyone has experience with this, what treatments worked for your dog? Thank you so much for any advice you may have.  Trish

No kill flea treatment

If I understand correctly the fleas on my pets are sentient beings. Just as 30bad.com is against the killing of bees and exploiting them for honey, I assume the same holds for other insects.     Being a no-kill zone I'm having trouble with the idea of fleas on my dog. What do I do? So far I've picking them off with my bare fingers and chucking them outside. I also air out my companion animal's bedding often. I  try to keep the house real clean. Though I feel bad about airing out the…

Transitioning pets to a vegan diet

My family and I became vegans three months ago and are totally loving this lifestyle. We have two dogs that we really want to become vegan and need tips on helping them transition. We have been feeding them a vegan dry dog food which they love, and giving them raw meat twice a day. We have tried giving them vegan canned dog food but they didn't really go for it. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

Whole Food Vegan Diet for Dog

Does anyone have any good links or resources or experience with feeding their pet a whole food vegan diet?  Where I live in Mexico there are no prepackaged vegan pet foods, but I have access to lots of fresh fruit and veggies and whole grains.  I want to make sure my girl gets enough calories and no idea how to customize to suit her nutritional requirements. Any ideas, thanks. I have a black lab.

Vegan dog with cancer - please help

Hi everyoneMy Labrador (13 years old), has just been diagnosed with a secondary tumour on her spine which has completely paralysed her hind legs. Treatment will be a painful process and might only prolong her life with a couple of months, so I’m not going to go there, or look for the other tumours at this stage. I must admit I knew she was getting old and that something was bound to give, but I thought a vegan diet would pretty much protect her against cancer. My plan is to just make her as…
